Show Garden 2015

Collaborative working with Edinburgh University-Department of Engineering.

We are delighted that Edinburgh University Engineering Department are to help with a specific project within our show garden design.  The garden is called 'The Readers Imagination Garden', and part of the garden's design is based upon a rotating Chesterfield chair.  The inspiration for this came from the rotating writing shed that belonged to George Bernard Shaw.  Colin who is studying mechanical engineering at Edinburgh and is in his 4th year, has taken on this challenge as a final year project.  We had a successful meeting with Colin today, and have great hopes for the task that he has offered to take on.

Meeting with Gardening Scotland Team

We met with Annie and Jim from Gardening Scotland to discuss Show Garden progress and marketing.  We felt it was a helpful and supportive meeting.  They indicated that we were doing well with general organisation so far.

Visit to Binny Plants

Billy from Binny Plants in Ecclesmachan kindly agreed to meet with our 'plants' group today.  We spent the afternoon at Binny talking plants and being given a comprehensive tour of the nursery.  We had a great time, although were frozen to the bone by the time we had finished the tour.  We hope to return again soon, and thank Billy very much for his generous allocation of time to us.

Welcome

This new blog will chart the progress of the Gardening Scotland 'Show Garden' entries, from SRUC (Scottish Rural University College) Edinburgh Campus.

It will give information about our progress, design, plant-lists, construction, and all aspects of preparing a 'show garden' for Scotland's main garden-exhibition at Ingliston, Edinburgh.
