Crowdfunding* for 'In The Knitted Garden'
In order to be able to build our second garden, 'In The Knitted Garden', we need to raise some funding and sponsorship.
We thought we would try crowdfunding, and have already had a little success with this! (Thx to the lovely people who have already donated!)
If you would like to help us to achieve our gorgeous 2nd show garden, then please visit: http://www.gofundme.com/IntheKnittedGarden
If you wish to donate then you can also ask for your donation to go to something specific, such as a bamboo or maybe some yarn, by adding your preference into the comment alongside your donation.
All names for donations will be entered into a Book, and displayed at the garden during Gardening Scotland.
Thank you in advance!

Crocheting for In the Knitted Garden
Crocheting for The Knitted Garden |
In the Knitted Garden
We are at present trying to gather enough funding for a second show garden to be constructed for Gardening Scotland. This garden is designed by Susan White who says of her design
-'Many plants yield fibres; used for centuries in textiles. I want to highlight some of these plants, and to explore and celebrate weaving and knitting as an Art form in a garden context."
These are her concept drawing for her garden-

More Information from Susan-
In The Knitted
Garden, the weaving and knitting have gone beyond craft status and ascended
into “Art in The Garden”
A Dead Tree forms the Centrepiece of the garden.
It is covered with crochet and knitting “Yarn
Bombing” style.
The tree is reborn
and lives on in another life as a piece of Art.
I have chosen chain-Link
fencing as a boundary in the design.
I think chain link looks like knitted wire and
have woven into the fence panel a unique
design.
The once
functional and mundane is transformed and is to be admired!

The Team
This is most of The Show Garden Team, a few members were busy with other things. There will be more photo opportunities. We all have different jobs to do linked to
-planting, construction, publicity, sponsorship, form filling and more.
Today we were working on design of our publicity material.

Weigh In
The Chesterfield Chair, which is an essential feature of our design had to be weighed today, so that the engineers can design the turntable to the correct strength. A bit of problem solving was needed, but we got there. The chair weighed in at 30Kg.

'The Readers Imagination Garden'
This post gives details of one of the show gardens that second year students garden design students will be constructing for Gardening Scotland, at the end of May. We are very excited about this literary themed show garden which was designed by Kellie Mac Andrews.
Description of the Garden
"Welcome to the readers imagination garden. This garden is intended to encourage literacy and creative thinking for all ages.
Taking inspiration from works of literature and writer's gardens, the style of planting reflects a woodland glade which has been adapted for a garden setting.
The design features a Chesterfield chair on a turntable, an outdoor library, and a still pool reflecting images of the sky bringing this vast imaginative space down to earth."
